Workshop Details
This workshop is designed to provide a general description of the ATA Certification Program and exam. Topics covered will include:
- How to plan ahead
- Nature of the passages
- Skills to be tested
- Tips and "tricks of the trade" for candidates
- Recent and upcoming certification program changes
- Taking the examination
- Evaluation of the examination
- Concepts and details of the grading process

About the Presenter
Tuomas Kostiainen serves as the current Certification Chair of NCTA. He has several years of experience as an ATA exam grader and as the English to Finnish Language Chair. He has also served two terms as a member of the ATA Certification Committee.

ATA Certification Exam Requirements
The next ATA certification exam in San Francisco is scheduled for November 3, 2007. To register for an ATA certification exam, you must:
- Be an ATA member for at least four weeks prior to the exam date
- Submit proof of eligibility if not currently ATA-certified
If you plan to take the exam in San Francisco, please make sure that you have fulfilled the above membership and eligibility requirements early enough so that you will be able to take the exam.
