About the American Translators Association
Active Membership Review Committee
Committee Objective
Associate members who are “professionally engaged in translating, interpreting, or closely related work” may request to have their membership status changed to Active or Corresponding. The Active Membership Review Committee was established to provide a peer review of these change of status applications and accompanying credentials.
The Active Membership Review Committee is asked to do the following:
- evaluate applications for Active and Corresponding membership, as set forth in Article III of the ATA Bylaws and in accordance with policies and procedures adopted by the Board;
- forward any rejected change of status applications to the ATA Board of Directors for review; and
- direct ATA Headquarters to notify applicants of the outcome of their peer review, in accordance with policies and procedures adopted by the Board.
If you are an Associate member interested in becoming an Active or Corresponding member, read the Membership Review Frequently Asked Questions and see the Membership Review Submission Form .
