Get the most out of your translation tool!


Tool vendors will provide free, in-depth tutorials—not sales pitches—for beginning or intermediate users of their translation tool software. These tutorials will either be hands-on workshops (laptop recommended) or lecture-style presentations.

THURSDAY

11:30am-12:30pm:

Cloud-based Translation Memory from Wordfast

SDL Essentials
(Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
"I've purchased Studio... now what?" This presentation will cover how to get support, where to find free resources, and important technical concepts that make using Studio a breeze. The Studio App Exchange will also be presented.

4:00pm-5:00pm:

Demonstration of Translation Workspace
(Intermediate, hands-on workshop, laptop recommended)
In this workshop, Lionbridge will demonstrate the advantages of migrating the localization process into the cloud. Using Translation Workspace, we will show the advantages of a live language asset strategy. You will learn how to share and grant access, analyze and prepare files, improve leverage with background links, translate in real-time, and use quality assurance tools for delivery.

Big Changes, Big Results: Discover Déjà Vu X2

(Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
Translators: be ready when a customer asks you to work in memoQ. Companies: know what to do when you ask translators to work in memoQ for the first time. Everyone learns how to download, activate, and begin translating or editing with memoQ...quickly!

2:30pm-3:30pm:

Getting to Know Fluency 2011
(Beginner, hands-on workshop, laptop recommended)
The Fluency Translation Suite will be introduced to those unfamiliar with our tool. The basic must-have functionalities in Fluency will be demonstrated and some of Fluency's most innovative features will be discussed.

4:00pm-5:00pm:

Introduction to Across PE
(Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
We will provide a comprehensive introduction to Across PE, the free yet full-featured version of Across for freelance translators. Topics to be covered will include crossDesk, crossTank, and crossTerm, and there will be plenty of time for Q&A.


SATURDAY

8:30am-9:30am:
Translating in the Cloud

(Beginner, hands-on workshop, laptop recommended)

See how Lionbridge’s suite of translation productivity tools that can move your business into the cloud. Starting with Geoworkz.com, we’ll explore the GeoWorkz Directory and GeoWorkz Marketplace, which enable you to put your business development and talent acquisition online, followed by Translation Workspace, which enables you to translate and collaborate in real-time.

10:00am-11:00am:

Introduction to MadCap Lingo
(Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
This tutorial session will introduce MadCap Lingo as a standalone translation tool. Attendees will see step-by-step how this application can be used to translate text segments from a variety of file types, incorporate translation memory, edit TM databases, use termbases and dictionaries, update projects with new source content, compute statistics, and export translations to appropriate outputs.

11:30am-12:30pm:

LogiTerm for Everyone
(Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
In this LogiTerm training session, we will show you how to be operational in just a few minutes without any predefined bilingual corpus or terminology database. We will build a translation memory from a website, translate a document, and conduct very powerful searches in the bilingual corpus.

2:30pm-3:30pm:

MemSource Cloud: Rethinking Translation Technology

(Intermediate, hands-on workshop, laptop recommended)

MemSource Cloud is a complete translation environment, combining a user-friendly web-based interface with powerful features. The tutorial will cover multilingual translation memories, drag-and-drop term base features, analysis of machine translation post-editing, as well as the translator's workbench, which can be installed on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops.

4:00pm-5:00pm:
MultiTrans Prism: How to Gain Control of Your Translation Process (Beginner, lecture-style presentation)
You will learn how to easily navigate through the new MultiTrans Prism interface, automate repetitive workflow tasks, build translation memories, manage terminology, and how to best use the Advanced Leveraging Translation Memory. Discover the new features of the tool from a translator’s perspective.
