Q: Does achieving Active or Corresponding membership status through the ATA Membership Review process mean that I am also a certified member?

A: No, ATA Membership Review does not award certification. The ATA Membership Review process only awards either Active or Corresponding membership status. The only way to become certified is to pass a certification exam.

Q: What rights do I receive as an Active member?

A: Active members have the right to attend any of the Association’s membership meetings, use all of its membership facilities, and receive all of its regular publications free or at special membership rates. They also have the right to take certification examinations, to vote, to hold Association office, and to serve on the Board of Directors and all committees of the Association.

Q: What rights do I receive as a Corresponding member?

A: Corresponding members have all the rights and privileges of Active members except the right to hold Association office and to serve on the Board of Directors or standing committees. In addition, Corresponding members meet all qualifications for Active membership except U.S. citizenship or permanent residence.

Q: Is there a fee for the ATA Membership Review process?

A: Yes, there is a nonrefundable $50 fee.

Q: What is the actual process?

A: Once you pick the route you would like to take, send the appropriate required information and the $50 fee to ATA Headquarters. The information is then reviewed. You will be notified of a decision by ATA Headquarters within four weeks.
