Investment Options: Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds

• This session will focus on investment options available to investors in Spain and Latin America. It will review well known and less well known stock- and bond-related investment vehicles (such as ADRs, etc.), and compare how they are used in Latin countries and in the U.S. It will also discuss mutual funds and investment techniques such as asset allocation, portfolio diversification, risk hedging, etc.

• Format-wise, the session will be an interactive hands-on workshop with a tutorial component. First, useful terms (in English and Spanish) will be defined and discussed. Then, the terms learned will be put into practice by translating some relevant documents from Spanish into English.

• We will also discuss where to find paper and on-line glossaries and reference sources on these topics.

• The session will target Spanish-English translators and will be given mostly in English.
