The
National Center for Interpretation at the University
of Arizona was established to meet the needs of a
state and nation experiencing dramatic growth in the
number of limited- and non-English-speaking minorities
requiring language services. The Center's work focuses
on interpreter training and testing, curriculum development,
and research and policy in the legal, medical, mental
health, and educational areas. Interpreter training
and testing programs have been offered at the University
of Arizona since 1979.
