SUMMARY:Mac for Translators—What Are My Chances?
DESCRIPTION:Given that the vast majority of computer assisted translation tools (CATs) are aimed at Windows users\, many Mac users or people who want to use the system are put off by this. But there are workarounds and\, indeed\, CATs for Macs. \nAttend this webinar for a brief introduction to CATs for Macs and examples of how to work with the mainstream ones\, such as Studio and memoQ. It is not as complicated as it sounds and translators will enjoy the best of both worlds. \nAbout the Presenter\nAna Luiza Iaria (MSc\, MITI\, ATA member) is a former lawyer who practiced law in Brazil for many years before transitioning to a career as a translator. A Mac-user since the early 90s\, she has worked exclusively on iMac and MacBooks since 2009. \nIn addition to a law degree\, Ana holds a first degree in Languages and an MSc in Translation and Translation Technology. \nFrom 2004 to 2012\, Ana has taught a number of classes in diverse subjects\, including Publishing Skills\, at the MSc in Translation at Imperial College London as a Visiting Lecturer. During this time\, she has given presentations on legal translation at various international conferences as well as conducted workshops on tools and productivity for translators.
