SUMMARY:Professional Performance\, All the Time! Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Learn practical strategies to enhance your interpreting and translation performance using techniques inspired by professional sports.\nInterpreting and translating are a high-wire act\, often compared to the Olympic Games of language performance. They blend art and science while constantly challenging our intellect\, worldview\, cognition\, and emotions. This may be why many language professionals struggle to perform at their best\, frustrating both themselves and their clients. \nFortunately\, there’s a better approach\, one that draws inspiration from high-level sports. This approach can be learned and practiced to help achieve consistent excellence. \nIn this webinar\, you will begin learning how to:\n\nApproach what you do systematically\, thoughtfully\, and rigorously.\nScale the sunlit uplands of “out-of-your-skin” skills delivery\, to the delight of all involved.\nAccomplish what you thought was always beyond your pay grade.\nAchieve a considerable competitive edge\, peer respect\, and client esteem.\n\nAbout the Presenter\nChris Guichot de Fortis is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) with an MA from Cambridge University and an MA in conference interpreting (University of Bath). He was a professional tennis player and served 10 years in the British police. He worked as a NATO interpreter during 1988-2021\, and for 10 years organized the NATO recruitment tests and training program for interpreting students. He has organized volunteer interpreter teams for several non-governmental organizations. He has taught or examined in a dozen schools and is chair of the Belgian AIIC Trainers’ Network (BANT). He now works as a freelancer and coaches interpreters\, mainly for B-language improvement and for tests in international organizations.
