In the 1980s\, he became an ATA-certified French>English translator. In the 1990s\, he co-authored The Possibility of Language with philosopher Terry Warner. He has contributed to the translation profession through his work on the governing boards of ATA and the International Federation of Translators (FIT) and while serving as president of LTAC Global\, a small nonprofit\, and has helped develop translation standards. Retiring in 2014 as an emeritus full professor\, he now focuses on translation quality evaluation within the MQM framework (multidimensional quality metrics for translation quality evaluation) under the umbrella of ASTM International\, a standards body. He currently chairs the FIT North America regional center.

He focuses his practice on advising and litigating construction\, business\, and employment disputes. \nScott has experience in handling non-compete and trade secret disagreements\, employment claims\, issues concerning independent contractors\, intellectual property infringement cases\, complex construction issues\, wage and overtime disputes under the FLSA and state law\, and breach of contract claims. He has more than 20 years of experience representing individuals and businesses in diverse civil matters throughout the Washington\, DC region. He also represents numerous language services companies in issues arising out of the independent contractor relationship. \nScott’s practice covers the full spectrum of litigation services including pre-litigation counseling risk and litigation management trials\, hearings\, arbitrations\, and appeals before federal and state courts. He has earned a reputation for being passionate about his clients’ cases and legal challenges. He has provided successful representation to small\, midsize\, and national clients. DESCRIPTION:Join the Chinese Language Division for Preserving Authentic Translation from English to Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) in the Age of AI presented by Mei Yu Liu (Jill). \nPresenter Bio: \nLeveraging her mastery of cultural nuances and 10 years of international trade experience specializing in supply chains\, Mei Yu Liu (Jill) transitioned to a 17-year career in translation between English and Traditional Chinese (Taiwan). Her expertise encompasses a broad range of fields\, including business\, legal\, and technical translations. Jill collaborates with native speakers to provide translation services in European\, Japanese\, and Korean languages. Her dedication to continuous learning led her to proficiency in Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools such as Trados and memoQ\, as well as in machine translation post-editing (MTPE).
