Havana: Academic studies beginning in preschool in English and also Spanish.
Gdansk University, Poland: Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering – 1969
Special language academies, courses completed: Chinese, Polish, German & Russian.
I have also studied translation practices in-house with ILS, Inc., Toledo, Ohio, USA –2004.
Chinese was the language of my parents, Spanish is my native language and English is the language used during my education and professional work.
My experience in mechanical engineering has been focused in shipbuilding (engineering design), construction of oil field facilities (quality assurance & quality control) and condition inspection of sea going ships and industrial facilities on behalf of British Insurers. In addition to my engineering responsibilities, my translation skills from English into Spanish have been required (and acquired) throughout my career (Translating contents of technical specs, procedures, contracts, rules, codes, reports [the latter from Spa into Eng], etc.). At times, interpreting was also required (during negotiations for purchasing ships, ship equipment and shipbuilding technology in Canada, Great Britain, Finland, etc.)

I currently freelance and have translated projects such as: Automotive manufacturing (Quality Assurance procedures and manuals), industrial painting equipment, heating and air conditioning, construction materials, chemical products (Technical Specs, operation instructions, safety instructions, etc), health insurance, legal advocacy, work psychology, vehicle driving (instruction manuals), labor relations (agreements, memos, etc.), animal food (usage instructions, description, etc), and others shorter texts covering multiple disciplines..
