Description

I am specialized in LEGAL / Human Resource related translations and have 30 years of experience. My degree as "Licencié-Traducteur" was recognized as a "Master's in Translation" by U.S. Immigration Services, and I have 30 years of professional experience. My professional background includes positions such as Senior HR Translator, Translator/ Publications Manager (at JP Morgan Trust Company / Euroclear), Technical Editor (at the European Committee for Standardization / CEN), Localization Expert, Linguist & Translator, Administrative Assistant & Translator as well as Language Instructor (university level). In particular, I would like to emphasize that my specialty is the field of legal/HR translation, as I have worked primarily in this field for the past 23 years at ASG Technologies, Inc. (which was recently acquired by Rocket Software).

I am of Belgian origin and have dual citizenship (Belgian/American). In addition to French and German, I am fluent in English, my third language, as a "native speaker" on account of having lived for 25 years in the United States. German is my primary native tongue as I was born and raised in Lontzen/Belgium close to Aachen/Germany, and thus speak and write "Hochdeutsch" ("high/standard German"). However, I was raised bilingually (German/French) and thus speak French without any accent. In July 1993, I accepted a position as a localization expert, linguist and translator at Soft-Art, Inc. in the United States (focused on German/English). I subsequently obtained my permanent residence ("green card") on 11/04/2002 through my employer, ASG Technologies, Inc. (formerly known as Allen Systems Group, Inc.) and my U.S. citizenship independently on 2/25/2008.

Effective August 1, 2021 I established my own LLC (ILONA TRANSLATIONS LLC) in order to provide translations as a freelance translators in French/German/English (FR/GE ><GE).
