Charo joined the American Translators Association (ATA) in 2001, and since then she has actively participated in the activities of its Spanish Language Division (SPD). She served two terms (2016-2020) as the Division's Administrator, among other division leadership roles during the past 20 years. Charo has also been recognized for her years of volunteer work in her community and many other worthwhile projects.

A native of the Dominican Republic, Charo is interested in furthering her knowledge in languages, cultures, communications, history, literature, travels, religion, and ballet.
