She served as ATA President from 2011 to 2013. In 2014\, she established her own coaching business Take Back My Day to help individuals and organizations solve problems related to workflow and time management. As a certified productivity coach (CPC)\, she now divides her time between translating and coaching. Her book Complete What You Started (2020) provides a blueprint for carrying big projects across the finish line.

SUMMARY:Using TransTools and TransTools+ to Improve Your Translation Process
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use TransTools and TransTools+ to overcome CAT tool limitations while working in Word\, PowerPoint\, and Excel documents.\nIn the age of computer-aided translation (CAT) tools\, a common mistake is to rely on a CAT tool to create a perfectly translated document without doing anything to prepare the original document. There are many areas\, however\, where CAT tools fall short\, from cleaning tags and fixing formatting issues in the source document to making sure that the final translation is well formatted and easy to read. \nAttend this webinar to learn how to use TransTools and TransTools+ to work around CAT tool limitations when dealing with Word\, PowerPoint\, and Excel documents. You will learn how these programs can increase your productivity\, improve your efficiency\, and assist in producing a final professional translation that will gain you repeat business! \nYou will learn how to:\n\nSave time and avoid errors with an efficient workflow prep of source documents before translation\nTranslate parts of a Word document in a CAT tool\, ignoring text marked as non-translatable\nProduce a dual language final Word document quickly\nPrevent common formatting issues in translated documents using checklists and tools\nImprove and polish the look and feel of a final document in Word\, including use of correction lists\n\nIn addition to translators\, this webinar will be useful for project managers at language services companies\, desktop publishing specialists\, editors\, and other language industry professionals. \nAbout the Presenter\nStanislav Okhvat is a translator turned software developer with a background in language studies and technical translation. During his career as an in-house technical translator\, he was always keen on using specialized software to increase the translation productivity of the company’s translation team. This led him to develop TransTools\, a suite of productivity tools for translators and editors\, and TransTools+\, a set of additional advanced tools for translation industry professionals. He currently works full time on TransTools+\, TransTools\, and a number of other software products. He also provides translation technology consulting and custom software development services for language services providers and translators.

DESCRIPTION:Get the Support You Need! ATA’s Mentoring Program offers matching services to members at different stages in their career. Mentees and mentors benefit from this mutually rewarding program. \nMentee applications are accepted from January 1 through March 31\, while Mentor applications are accepted all year.  The program runs from May 1 through October 31 each year. Mentees will be selected through a competitive application process. \nDeadline for Mentee applications is March 31. Mentor applications are accepted all year.
