Safety Tips
ATA has partnered with local law enforcement and private security to create a safe conference environment. Here are tips for what you can do to keep yourself safe.
Wear your badge. You must wear your badge throughout the conference space, including breakfast, the Exhibit Hall, and all other conference sessions and events.
Do not wear your badge. If you leave the hotel, remove your badge so you don’t stand out as a tourist.
Keep valuables secure. The hotel is open to the public. Do not leave valuables unattended in meeting rooms or in public areas. Store valuables in your room safe when not in use.
Have medications accessible. Bring any necessary prescriptions in original containers.
Know how to find care. If you need an urgent care facility or a pharmacy, visit the hotel concierge or ATA Registration in the Grand Ballroom Foyer, Lower Level.
Locate the nearest exit. Whether in a meeting room or your hotel room, be aware of the emergency exit.
Stay connected. Make sure your phone is charged and carry portable chargers.
Stay aware of your surroundings. Be mindful of where you are and avoid walking alone late at night. Travel in groups when possible.
Avoid sensitive areas. Steer clear of demonstrations, protests, or large gatherings. Ask the hotel front desk about the safety of areas around the hotel.
Have a plan if separated. Decide on a meeting point or contact method if you are split up due to street closures or demonstrations.
Use trusted transportation. Stick to official taxis, rideshare apps, or hotel shuttles.
Carry identification. Always have a government-issued photo ID with you. Take a photo of your passport and IDs with your mobile phone and share them with your emergency contact.
Know your rights. Local law enforcement generally does not assist in federal immigration enforcement, but federal agencies may still operate. Do not share immigration status unless legally required.
Follow official rules and updates. Monitor local news and any local updates from meeting organizers or hotel security. Follow all city rules and safety measures.
In case of an emergency, call 911.
