We need well-defined objectives to negotiate a contract successfully. You’ll learn the essential elements of a freelance contract, including the various clauses involved and what clauses we must negotiate to protect ourselves. Specific clauses for translators and interpreters will be identified.

Part 1, you will learn how to:

Part 2, you will learn how to:

  3. Use tools to negotiate your terms.

About the Presenter

Andy Benzo, CT is a language professional with degrees in law and translation from her native Argentina. She has over 35 years of experience as a freelance legal translator. Her expertise spans international contracts, class action lawsuits, labor union agreements, and wills and trusts. She is an ATA-certified English>Spanish translator and has a paralegal degree from California State, San Marcos. An ATA member since 1999, she currently serves on ATA’s Board of Directors. In addition, she served as assistant administrator of ATA’s Spanish Language Division (SPD) and hosted the SPD Podcast Charlas de café. She was an instructor in the T&I certificate program at the University of California San Diego Extension. She is an experienced presenter at ATA conferences and international forums.
