Verify ATA-Certified Translator Status

ATA-Certified Translator Seal

To verify a translator's ATA certification, please enter the individual's certification number in the box below and click the verify button. Membership and certification are not the same and you can not verify certification with a membership number. You must have the translator's certification number to use this tool.

What is the ATA Certification Program?

The ATA Certification Program was established in 1973. The program's mission is to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and designate translators who demonstrate the knowledge essential to providing translation services. Earning the ATA certification credential is the hallmark of a committed translation professional.

How does a translator earn ATA certification?

Candidates sign a pledge to uphold the ATA Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, and must pass a challenging three-hour examination designed to test abilities, problem solving, and fundamental knowledge essential to successful translation.

Is there more to the ATA-certified translator status?

ATA-certified translators maintain their credential by fulfilling continuing education renewal requirements every three years. Certification is an individual commitment to the ongoing pursuit of knowledge in the profession.
