Conferences & Seminars
Overview
One of ATA's primary missions has been to promote the professional development of translators and interpreters. The association holds a number of conferences throughout the year in support of this goal.
ATA Annual Conference
The ATA Annual Conference is held each fall in a major city or popular resort area. This four-day event showcases panel discussions, expert presentations, training workshops, and scholarly papers. The conference also features a job marketplace, a vendor exhibit hall, certification testing, and networking sessions designed to build professional contacts for attendees. ATA members receive discounted conference registration rates as a membership benefit.
ATA Professional Development Seminars
Throughout the year, the association presents a series of advanced one-day seminars in major U.S. cities. These smaller conferences offer training and education targeted to specialties within the translation and interpreting fields. Post seminar networking sessions provide attendees a chance to develop referral sources within a community of specialists. ATA members receive discounted conference registration rates as a membership benefit.
ATA Division Mid-Year Conferences
Several ATA divisions organize mid-year conferences to provide continuing education relevant to the language or specialty of their members. These two-day meetings offer presentations designed to cover a range of translator and interpreter abilities—from beginner to expert—but all within the language or specialty interest of the division. ATA members receive discounted conference registration rates as a membership benefit.
Other Conferences and Seminars
A number of translation and interpreting associations hold educational meetings in the U.S. as well as internationally. Check ATA's Calendar of Events for information on some of these conferences.
