I work as a freelance translator/proofreader under the name C.O.L. Translations. I am certified by the ITI in 5 language pairs: Portuguese (Portugal), Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Africa), Spanish (Spain), and Spanish (Latin American) to English. I have qualified for ISO 17100 certification, the internationally recognized standard for translation services. I am registered as a professional translator with the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). I have extensive experience translating personal and company documents for private clients and translation agencies from all over the world. I can help you with certified translations for the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, the USA and Portugal amongst others.

The majority of my clients contact me for help with Applying for Visas, Applying for Passports, Validating Academic Certificates to continue studying or to practice their profession in another country.

I provide digital translations (PDF) and/or physical translations (printed). My digital translations include digital signatures, ITI seals and translator stamps which can all be verified electronically as they include Advanced Electronic Signatures (AES). These digital translations are not a simple scan of the paper translation, they are a different version so that they can be verified electronically by the receiving authority. My physical translations include ink signatures and stamps, an embossed seal, and the official ITI adhesive seal. Physical translations are sent by registered mail and I will provide you with the tracking number, or you can collect your translation in person. Both digital and physical translations include a one-page Translator's Declaration.

Normally, I can do your translation based on a digital copy (scan or photo) of your document, you don’t need to send me the original by post. You can pay me in US dollars, pounds, euros, or reais and I accept bank transfer, Wise, Revolut, BIZUM, MBWAY or PIX amongst others.

About me
I was born in Edinburgh but hold dual British and Brazilian nationalities. I have lived in the UK, Spain, Brazil, Germany and currently live in Portugal, so I am familiar with the difficulties faced when immigrating to other countries.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, a Master's Degree in Translation from the University of Porto, a Master's Degree in IT from the University of Glasgow, a Diploma in Spanish Language (Level C2) from the University of Seville, a Diploma in Portuguese Language (Level C2) from the Brazilian Ministry of Education, and a Diploma in Portuguese Language (Level C2) from the University of Lisbon. My American Translator's Association (ATA) Membership No. is 25309, I am also a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) Member No. 00023431, the Brazilian Translator's Association (ABRATES) Member No. 6629, the Portuguese Translator's Association (APT) Member No. 2081, the Portuguese Association of Translation and Interpreting Professionals (APTRAD) Member no. 806, and the Spanish Translator's Association (ASETRAD) Member No. 3970.
