Sofia Gillman
Description
I am a native speaker of Spanish and Korean and acquired English as my third language, allowing me to work with precision across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts. I hold a Master’s degree in Hispanic Studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a focus on Translation and Cultural Studies. My academic background, combined with extensive field experience, supports accurate, culturally appropriate communication in complex and high-stakes settings. I have several years of experience working as a court interpreter for the Clark County Courts in Las Vegas, Nevada, providing Spanish and Korean language services. My professional practice also includes specialized interpreting and translation work in court and legal proceedings, nonprofit and community organizations, conference and religious settings, as well as business and professional environments. In addition to my language work, I have served in leadership roles within the Nevada Translators & Interpreters Association, first as Vice President and later as President, where I assisted with interpreter training initiatives and coordinated professional workshops to advance ethical standards and professional development within the field. I am currently based in Illinois and continue to provide in-person and remote language services.
