Attila Piroth
Description
While working on his PhD in theoretical particle physics, Attila had the opportunity to translate one of the highest profile texts a scientist can dream of: Einstein's groundbreaking articles from 1905, in which the foundations of relativity and quantum, physics had been laid. The satisfaction of making such outstanding works accessible in another language steered Attila to scientific translation, where he collaborated with several renowned publishers.
Well aware of the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing something, Attila, with a solid scientific background, works in various scientific and technical fields. In addition to providing translation, localization, revision and quality assessment services from English and French into Hungarian, he also has a long-standing interest in terminology, having worked on an English to Hungarian dictionary of physics since his PhD years.
Attila is a regular speaker at translation conferences, including ATA, IAPTI and ProZ events. He has presented various topics from working with publishers to conflict management, from quality assessment to the financial aspects of translation tools, from business risk mitigation to translation in the humanitarian sector. He has mentored career-starting translators since 2009, laying special emphasis on ethical business practices.
