Biography
Dayring Elizabeth Romero Lucero de Mazariegos received her Professional Translator degree from Instituto Femenino de Estudios Superiores (IFES) in 1994 and she is also a Sworn Translator. Since 1993 her life has focused on the translation field. She has been translator, reviewer and project manager and during more than 25 years she has worked for a private translation agency and as freelance translator.
She has acquired a lot of experience, since she has had the opportunity to supervise large teams up to 50 professionals, among them translators, reviewers and desktop publishing specialists. She makes the effort to produce the best quality translations and applies strong quality control, according to international standards. Her experience is oriented to different translation fields: technical, legal, business, medical, postediting and software localization, relying on Computer Assisted Translation Tools (CAT Tools).
She has a Business Management Bachelor and a Master’s in Business Administration with Specialization in Project Management from Universidad Mariano Gálvez de Guatemala based on the Project Management Institute (PMI) methodology.
She is professor and teaches different courses among them CAT Tools to the students in the Technical Degree in Translation and to the last year students in the Bachelor in Translation and Interpretation. In addition, she teaches translation and advanced linguistics courses in Universidad Mariano G√°lvez. Universidad Mariano G√°lvez is a high-level education institution that has a computer lab equipped with MemoQ as the main translation tool, that has allowed the certification of several students in the use of this tool under her supervision.
As member of Asociación Guatemalteca de Intérpretes y Traductores, she has been speaker in several Seminars SEMAGIT and Continued Education Training for the members of this association and has been speaker at Universidad Mariano Gálvez de Guatemala and Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in the annual Translation Day Seminars. “The experience and the academic knowledge obtained over the years constitute a wide trajectory she can share with the professionals, students and everyone interested in the translation field, this is the only manner to contribute to the professional growth of the Guatemalan translators so they can benefit from the opportunities the world offers to the noble profession of translator”.
