I have translation fields that I specialise in and do well, rather than offer to "translate anything" which I don’t think anyone should. For fields that I do not offer, I am often happy to recommend colleagues who do. I play to my strengths: legal, finance and subtitling, and to me & my inner language geek, a KIID document is every bit as interesting as a legal contract or a subtitling job for the latest TV series. It may not make me the most sparkling dinner conversationalist when the topic is work, but it does make me a very good translator.
