I hold a Ph.D. in French from Columbia University and spent a year on a fellowship to the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. I have translated twelve books, including a study of the French wine industry and a biography of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. My previous positions include professor of French and art journalist for the French newspaper Le Journal des Arts. I've spoken on the craft of translation and the translation industry at the ATA annual conference, Duke University, and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. In addition to translating books, I also specialize in translating advertising and marketing materials for French luxury brands and transcreation, copywriting, and SEO copywriting.
