Kathryn Marocchino

Description

"Rosemoor House Translations" is the official name of Kathryn Marocchino's independent contractor translation services and has been in operation since 1988. It provides both general and technical translation services specifically FROM and INTO Italian, as well as language consulting, proofreading/editing, book reviews/book translations for publishers, special assignment writing, dubbing and film voice-overs, abstracting, contracts and legal depositions, technical writing, cassette/dictaphone transcribing, audio/video cassette translation and professional tutoring in ESL and Italian, at both the corporate and private levels. Dr. Marocchino is a member of the ATA and NCTA, as well as a full professor at California State University Maritime in Vallejo (CA) and has been a professional translator and educator, both in the US and abroad, for the past 30 years. She holds a doctorate in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature from the University of Turin (Italy) and taught at various technical institutes while she was in Italy, as well as at the University of Turin. She was also professor of translation theory and methodology for a number of years at the Istituto Ipseit of Turin for Translators and Interpreters. After her arrival in the US, she was director of the English Language Program at Sierra Academy of Aeronautics, in Oakland, CA, and has lectured at UC Davis and at Stanford University, among other institutions. She is the author of several books, articles, and conference papers (in both English and Italian) and currently serves on the board of directors of a number of organizations.
