Having grown up in the United States, I am a native English speaker who received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from American universities. During my 34 years of studying Arabic, residence in Egypt for five years starting in 1998 with subsequent visits for several months most years, 35-year marriage to an Egyptian, exhaustive study of formal Arabic grammar, and thousands of hours of interacting, reading, writing, and viewing in Arabic, I have a developed a thorough command of formal Arabic and the Egyptian dialect.

I received certification from the Arab Professional Translators Society and have been translating professionally on a part-time basis for six years. My clients have included Gengo, U.S Language Services, Global Lingo, Day Translations, WeLead Translations, and Protranslating. I have spent considerable time studying legal and court terminology. and have occasionally interpreted in various situations for speakers of different Arab countries.
