Experience - U. S.-born citizen. Lived in Brazil for two years, returning to U.S. in 1968. Made return visits as tourist / businessman. Spent 1 week in Lisbon, Portugal in 1991. Visited Portugal in summer of 2009. Returned to Brazil serving 15 months in Brasilia in an office as financial secretary.

Spring of 2007 - Began translation work with Verbatim Solutions, a firm in Salt Lake City, doing product specification sheets, legal documents, etc. Did about 120,000 words.

2008 to 2014 - While teaching at high school, began working for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, translating confidential documents and magazine articles. Nearly 12,000 pages. part-time, remote.

During fall of 2014, did about 30 pages of English to Portuguese work for LANDesk for an advertising campaign in Brazil.

Did work for AAA Alliance for African Assistance, San Diego, CA. Translation of IDs, birth certificates, etc.

Also, did six single-page documents for U S Translation, viz., school records, birth certificates, etc.

About 2004 to 2008, experience doing medical interpretation in clinics and hospitals for Portuguese-speaking patients. (on call basis).

Taught one semester of Portuguese language in an adult education class at a local high school, about 2004.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication (advertising and public relations), Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
MBA from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, Calif.

Work experience: Have spent 33 years in private business, 20 of them in public relations and marketing communications. The other years have been in general business management. Ran my own business marketing insecticide. Did some international business.

In 2008 began teaching at Copper Hills High School, West Jordan, Utah. Classes included marketing, entrepreneurship, advertising, business management, computer technology, sports marketing and fashion merchandising. Also taught college-level communications and marketing classes.
