Marianella Vera
Description
Spanish is my native language; I was born and raised in Venezuela but have spent part of my professional life in the United States. I have a BFA degree from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Minnesota, USA, and a graduate degree from Simon Bolivar University, Caracas, Venezuela.
I worked as an Executive Recruiter for 10 years in Korn/Ferry International, the world's largest executive recruiting firm, in the Caracas office. In this capacity, I worked in a 100% bilingual environment, providing executive search consulting services to major national and multinational companies. Assistance to clients and candidates was provided indistinctively in Spanish or English. I accumulated extensive experience in a broad range of industries as well as in diverse functional areas. In my recent years of professional life in the US (since 2003) I have worked for American companies in an all-English environment as well as for American companies serving Hispanics markets.
As for my translation experience, since 2007 I have been executing freelance translation jobs that include: special education evaluation reports (psychological, educational, physical and occupational therapy, speech and language, autism, IEP); a wide variety of articles for a local newspaper; procedural manuals (Driver Manual -DMV, Procedural Safeguards for Parents -Department of Education, Patient’s Bill of Rights and Responsibilities –a private clinic); legal texts (birth, marriage, divorce and related certificates, college and university documents, etc.); educational material; advertising campaigns and brochures; general purpose and business letters; among others.
