Description

I am a Canadian lawyer and international arbitrator with 15 years of legal experience and three years of experience as a freelance legal translator (lawyer-linguist), legal English consultant and content creator. I have worked extensively in the mining, electricity (including renewable energy), oil & gas and transportation industries.

My passion for languages began when I was a small child. I grew up speaking English and French interchangeably at home in Québec, Canada, where bilingualism is ubiquitous. I then learned Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and now work in all five languages.
In 2020, I launched English for Lawyers, a consulting firm through which I offer legal translation (FR, IT, ES, PT > EN) and legal English classes and workshops for lawyers, law firms, corporate legal departments and bar associations. Through my English for Lawyers LinkedIn page (which currently has over 11,700 followers), I post content aimed at helping lawyers from around the world excel at using English for professional purposes.

In addition to my work as a legal translator, I work with many translation agencies as a client in the context of my international disputes legal practice. I have overseen the translation of, and revised, many thousands of legal documents into English from a wide variety of languages, so I know firsthand what law firm clients expect from their language service providers.
