M.A. in Spanish (University of Virginia); Ph.D. in Linguistics (Cornell University) with a concentration in Romance Linguistics. Twenty+ years of university teaching experience on the graduate and undergraduate levels in Spanish language and literature and French and Spanish Linguistics. From 2008 to 2013 employed as a translator with the HABLA program (Hispanic Assistance Bilingual Access) at the College of Social Work, University of South Carolina, translating legal and public health documents for the Departments of Social Services and Health & Environmental Control. Now working as a freelance translator. Recent major translation projects include being commissioned by the Dominican Studies Institute of the City University of New York (CUNY) to translate Franklyn J. Franco’s seminal book on Dominican history, Los negros, los mulatos y la nación dominicana (Routledge, 2015, ISBN-13: 978-1138785007). At the request of comic book writer Roy Thomas, I translated into English a number of his articles that had been published in Spain in Spanish in the 1990s. The result is a 3-volume set Conan the Barbarian: A Literary Life (Pulp Hero Press, 2018-21).
