Significant translating and interpreting experience in business. legal, medical, financial, regulatory and institutional areas.
Previously served for over sixteen years as Head of Language Services, Simultaneous Interpreter and Senior Translation Reviewer for the Brazilian Embassy in Washington D.C. Significant experience working as an expert Portuguese interpreter and translator for over a dozen different U.S. government agencies.
Former U.S. diplomat (Foreign Service Officer) with many years of experience in a wide variety of international settings, including doing the simultaneous interpretation for many bilateral meetings of high-level government officials and also as a conference interpreter for the World Bank and other major international organization clients. Previously was responsible for preparing the official translations into English of speeches and other formal declarations by three Brazilian presidents and several Brazilian Ambassadors.
Have served as the main simultaneous interpreter for literally hundreds of Brazilian Federal Government Ministers, Governors, Senators and Congressmen, over the past 20+ years. Prepared the official English translations of myriad Brazilian laws, treaties, diplomatic notes, policy documents, high-level official correspondence, brochures, marketing texts, web pages and four published books. Skilled at producing complete and accurate translations that don't "sound like" translations.
Experienced at translating European and African Portuguese into English. Many years of experience in translating personal documents such as certificates, transcripts, etc. to be submitted to U.S. government authorities (including USCIS). Worked for over sixteen years in a professional office environment where Portuguese was the primary language spoken. Wife was originally from Brazil, so Portuguese is also spoken at my home.
