Description

Tennessee Language Center (TLC) was created as an agency of the State of Tennessee established in 1986 under the name Tennessee Foreign Language Institute (TFLI). It was the only one of its kind in state government throughout the U.S. Today, Tennessee Language Center, under the direction of the Institute for Public Service of the University of Tennessee, is dedicated to responsive service of the public sector, the business community and private citizens in realizing their intercultural communication goals.

TLC is dedicated to responsive public service and strives to facilitate intercultural communication through the provision of quality language instruction, translation and interpretation services, professional development for interpreters, translators and language instructors, and cultural awareness programs, which are designed to meet the needs of the state government and its employees, the business community, foreign language educators, and the public at large.
