The Challenges of Today’s Translation Industry
As a result of the ongoing integration of MT- and AI-based technologies, translation agencies constantly seek to shorten turnaround times and reduce costs. While the ability of MT and AI tools to improve quality remains questionable, many new players use these technologies to join the market as translation providers. Unfortunately, many of the traditional challenges of the translation industry persist today, including the difficulty verifying the quality and certifications of translation providers, many of whom translate to languages they do not know using MT- and AI-based tools. While MT- and AI-based tools are used extensively in the translation workflow, final QA inspections remain the exclusive domain of human linguists.

• Certified Arabic translator (Bar Ilan University, ALTA Language Services). I specialize in literary Arabic, not spoken Arabic.

• Registered member of the American Translators Association
