Yasemin Erdem
Description
My original academic background is in business administration, with a focus on marketing/international business. After getting my university degree (MBA-equivalent), I worked as a strategy consultant and marketing specialist for over 5 years. Subsequently, I studied journalism to pursue my passion of writing.
I'm a published writer and have written the texts for several books (mainly travel/lifestyle, in German and English) that were published in Germany between 2007 and 2009. I've also worked for radio and TV stations. I am very text-savvy and fond of languages (German and Turkish: native speaker, as I grew up bilingual; English: close to native; Italian: fluent; French: basic/intermediate).
Since 2012, I have mainly been working as a freelance translator for the Japanese online platform Gengo as well as other agencies. My main language pair is English to German, and I'm rated as a top quality translator. Working with high attention to detail, I focus on marketing/business/finance (esp. trading, cryptocurrency) texts, legal texts (contracts, data privacy, GDPR, patents) and technical texts.
I hold a full license of the CAT-Tool MemoQ.
In addition, I've had several interpreting assignments for various language combinations on trade fairs throughout Germany as well as for employee trainings (technical language) in both Switzerland and Germany.
