Secretary | Two-Year Term

Dear and honorable colleagues,

It’s a true honor to be nominated for the position of Secretary on the Board of the prestigious association we all belong to, ATA. Winning will be an extraordinary opportunity to serve and achieve on many levels: serving in the capacity as Secretary on the Board, serving the members of ATA, and, finally, serving the translation and interpreting professions.

Our profession is all about communicating, interacting, and building bridges between countries and cultures through language and eventually between civilizations. And for this endeavor to thrive, develop, and adapt to rapid changes and technologies, we need solid functioning entities like ATA.

I’m looking forward to bringing my learning and experiences to ATA and learning from the esteemed members of the Board and from the association in general.

I have 19 years of experience working as a translator and interpreter in addition to my work as a diplomat for 16 years, which I’ve come to realize are very similar and integrated. My main focus was political, legal, and economic translation, but, like many of us, I’ve been introduced to wider horizons in the industry throughout the years, such as commercial, media, medical, and various fields that emphasize the importance of our profession and its impact on international relations, world economy, and globalization in its positive and productive aspects.

I intend to undertake my duties with devotion, integrity, and passion and to continue the good work my predecessors have done.

Many thanks!
