Associate members who are "professionally engaged in translating, interpreting, or closely related work" may request to have their membership status changed to Active or Corresponding. The Membership Committee was established to examine these change of status applications and accompanying credentials. The Committee is also charged with actively recommending and pursuing policies to recruit and retain members.
The Committee is asked to do the following:
- evaluate applications for Active and Corresponding membership, as set forth in Article III of the ATA Bylaws and in accordance with policies and procedures adopted by the Board;
- forward any rejected change of status applications to the ATA Board of Directors for review;
- direct ATA Headquarters to notify applicants of the outcome of their peer review, in accordance with policies and procedures adopted by the Board; and
- recommend and pursue policies to recruit and retain members.
If you are an Associate member interested in becoming an Active or Corresponding member, please see the Membership Review Process.
