Know Your Worth: Negotiating Tips

December 9, 2023 / 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm EST

What if negotiating was fun and you could get what you want?

As language professionals, we rarely had any training in business skills. But the saying “You are worth what you can negotiate” is a truism in all business—and we are businesses! Clients and prospective clients constantly ask us to work for less, or for longer hours, or in conditions that we do not wish to accept. Our dream would be to have them pay us a fee that reflects the value that we bring to them. What usually happens, however, is that we think clients have all the power and we get scared, so we end up taking the job for whatever fee the client suggests, just so we can avoid negotiating.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. You can negotiate the fees and conditions that you want, and both parties can feel like they have made a good deal.

This webinar will give you an insight into how negotiating works – so you may support your client relationships.

You will:

  1. Recognize some negotiating games and tactics used by your clients
  2. Understand when something is a negotiation and when it isn’t
  3. Negotiate like an equal
