Join this webinar to expand your linguistic and cultural proficiency and contribute to your professional growth as a translator or interpreter in the ever-evolving landscape of LGBTQIA+ legal and health care matters.
Whether it’s in a court of law or a child custody, divorce, child support, or discrimination case, or in a health care setting (e.g., hormone replacement therapy, in vitro fertilization, or surgery), you’re going to encounter people from the LGBTQIA+ community in your personal and professional life. As professionals, we need to know the correct terminology to use in each of these areas, as well as in any other specialized area.
This webinar is designed for both translators and interpreters and will be presented primarily in English with some Spanish.
You will:
- Explore the significance and ever-growing emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the T&I industry and the ever-changing terminology in the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of LGBTQIA+ terminology so you can communicate inclusively and effectively across various legal and medical contexts and more.
- Develop cultural competence by learning the proper terminology to use in specialized areas to ensure respectful and accurate communication.
- Equip yourself with the knowledge needed to engage confidently with LGBTQIA+ individuals in both personal and professional spheres, thus enhancing your ability to provide high-quality translation and interpreting services.
